Kadavar is a retro-rock band from Germany. I'm addicted to their first album. They released an album in 2015, Berlin (another must-own), as well as Abra Kadavar in 2013.

Congratulations! You have just come across one of Earth's greatest bands, Daikaiju. I saw these guys live in Akron on 5/23/2015. They are from Alabama and play their own brand of kick-ass surf rock. There is no singer to dumb the music down, only catchy riffs and super shredding. They dress up like Japanese warriors on the stage, and their name means "Giant Monster" in Japanese ("Daikaiju" is what they call Godzilla in Japan).

Here are Amazon MP3 links to their albums: Daikaiju (2009 Selftitled), Phase 2 (2010) and the Double Fist Attack single (2013). To see a video of them performing live, click here. At the 15 minute mark, the fans LIFT THE DRUMMER AND DRUM SET up while the band is playing!

Axatak

I discovered this gem of a band during an amazing time in my life. I was the official television director at Northfield Park racetrack. In between races, I'd scour the internet with my brother from another mother, Mattzo (named after the one and only Braco). We would hunt for captivating music videos and rare artists from the 80's. Upon discovering Axatak, my views of what rock music could and should be have shifted.

Some might call these guys an Australian Kiss rip-off. While it's clear they were influenced by Kiss (I think they even started out as a Kiss cover band), don't let that deter you from enjoying this, the rarest of the hair. Here's the video that started it all when it comes to my Axatak addiction: Shock Rock! Note the wild facial expressions, ridiculous makeup and big hair! Don't be afraid to laugh. Also check out the songs You and Live Out Your Dreams.

Glam Metal
Wrathchild
Stakk Attakk
Amazon MP3
This is another band I unearthed while searching for rare hair with my brother Mattzo. The video for STAKK ATTAK had us laughing so loud and hard, our boss got mad (which didn't happen often). We were absolutely in awe at the furious riffage, confetti explosions and ludicrous makeup and outfits. This band released a few other albums, Stakk Attakk 2 and The Biz Suxx, but I will always be the most fond of their debut, Stakk Attakk. Check out the entire album on YouTube! Further reading
Power Metal
Fifth Angel
Time Will Tell
Amazon
My friend, if nothing else, do yourself a favor. Check out the Fifth Angel. This is my favorite power metal band. The opening song from Time Will Tell, Cathedral, will redefine your meaning of music and the healing powers it can have for your soul. After that, track for track, this album is on par with Appetite for Destruction. Check out the video for the single Time Will Tell, and their first album, the selftitled Fifth Angel. Here's a YouTube link for the full album Time Will Tell, as well as their debut Fifth Angel. Further reading: 1, 2, 3
Hair Metal

Absolutely epic rare hair. The video for Rebel With A Cause will send chills down your spine. Their debut release, Shattered Hearts, has lesser production, yet it is all around equally as impressive. After a long hiatus, they returned with the awesome album Still Alive, and even released another one after that, Four Letter Word. Further reading

This is a classic. In the late 80's, O'Dette ruled the Chicago hard rock scene, alongside Defcon. Unfortunately, this was the band's only release. If you're having trouble tracking the album down, or if you don't want to pay a high price for a used copy, here's a YouTube link.

LINEUP:
Mark O'Dette (vocals)
John Craig (guitar)

Hair Metal
Love/Hate
Blackout in the Red Room
Amazon MP3
This album came out towards the end of hair metal (1990), but don't let that deter you. In my personal opinion, this album is song-for-song on par with Appetite for Destruction. I had the opportunity to witness the Blackout in the Red Room 2013 reunion tour, which they played almost the entire album (no Rock Queen, sadly) along with other Love/Hate classics and a few cover songs. It was honest to God one of the best shows I have ever seen. Not only were my brothers Mattzo and Keefer there, but we MET Jizzy Pearl and got him to sign my BLACKOUT cassette and JIZZY PEARL CONSUMMATE PROFESSIONAL AWARD (bestowed upon me during my last day at Northfield Park).

Mattzo is the one who told me about this band, and the video for Why Do You Think They Call It Dope? has provided us with THOUSANDS of laughs and timeless memories. Note Jizzy's superkicks and Joey Gold's beautiful hair blowing in the wind while spinning his drumsticks.

Also check out Wasted in America, Let's Rumble and Crucified. Further reading: 1, 2, 3

Wrestling-themed rock. A lot of songs are slower, and more acoustical, but still good. Some of the more upbeat tracks are Werewolf Gimmick, Foreign Object, Animal Mask, Chavo Guerrero and Bull Ramos.

I am very, very impressed by this album. It kind of reminds me of CSS's PLANTA. Coca sans bulles is the greatest song I have yet to hear in 2015. Also check out Yelle's other releases, Safari Disco Club and Pop Up.

My favorite rap album of 2014. The lyrics come in the booklet if you buy the CD. If you've never heard of Busdriver before, you're in for a treat. Also check out Temporary Forever and Beaus$Eros. You can't go wrong with any Busdriver release, including side projects such as Flash Bang Grenada.

Electropop
CSS
Planta
Amazon MP3
CSS is from Brazil. Their first few albums were guitar-oriented and rock-heavy. This album, Planta, is more electropop than anything else. The only song that reminds me of their earlier stuff is track 5, Dynamite. I can't stress how much I enjoy this album. Here's the video for their song "Hangover". If you buy the CD, the official lyrics come along with the booklet.
