2015 has brought us many new wrestlers, and none of them intrigue me more than Frankie Flynn. He has traveled the world thanks to his love for the theatre, and is bringing that experience with him into the squared circle. He's peed on Scott Hall's lap and lived to tell the tale. He has also trained at the AIW wrestling school with Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae!
Frankie Flynn: I've been interested in wrestling for long as I can remember. My parents would go to wrestling shows back when they were dating, before I existed. So in a way, I was kind of just born into the whole fandom of professional wrestling.
Particle Don: What made you decide to become a wrestler? How old were you?
Frankie Flynn: I always loved it. It called to me. I was just turning 21 when I started to train.
Particle Don: Did you have a favorite wrestler growing up?
Frankie Flynn: Growing up, there was a lot of professional wrestlers that I idolized. Just off the top my head I can easily say Shawn Michaels, Sting, Chris Jericho, Jushin "Thunder" Liger, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Ultimate Warrior, Mr. Perfect, Rick Rude, and Ric Flair.
Jushin "Thunder" Liger
Particle Don: What made you want to train to be a wrestler?
Frankie Flynn: While growing up around professional wrestling, it wasn't long before my fandom became a dream. It was just always something I wanted to do. However, sometimes I tell people that I wanted to be a wrestler ever since I met Scott Hall when I was about three and peed on his lap.
Particle Don: What's it like training at the AIW school? When did you start taking classes?
Frankie Flynn: I started training back in June 2014. From the moment I walked into Turner's Hall, the feeling was exhilarating. The ability to live a dream, be part of this amazing company and be trained by one of the top Indy guys is incredible.
Particle Don: Who are a few members of the AIW roster you'd like to meet inside the ring?
Frankie Flynn: We have such a talented roster. There are so many people I would love to face in the ring. Off the top of my head, I can think of Johnny Gargano (obviously), Colin Delaney, Colt Cabana, Allison Kay, Candice LeRae, and Tyson Dux, as well as many others.
Particle Don: Have you ever sparred with Weird Body EA?
Frankie Flynn: Yeah, I've been in the ring with him during training. He's pretty innovative.
Particle Don: What are your thoughts on your debut singles match against Kingston?
Frankie Flynn: Eddie Kingston wasn't my first singles match. My first one was at Rockstar in Dayton a few months back. However, it was my official AIW singles debut match. I thought it went pretty well. Unfortunately, I didn't win, but I put up a fight.
Particle Don: Like many of wrestling's other great gimmicks, yours is an extension of your personality outside of the ring. How long have you been interested in theatre?
Frankie Flynn: I've always been interested in entertainment, and remember when I was really young, singing and dancing at parties. I wasn't actually in a play until the fourth grade. I had so much fun that I kept auditioning, and it just stuck.
Particle Don: Did you take drama class in high school? What other acting classes have you been a part of?
Frankie Flynn: I didn't take any theatre classes until college. I actually I majored in theatre once I got there. Some of the classes I took were Voice and Movement, Costume Design, and Directing. My favorite one, however, was Shakespeare class. I read all of his plays and his entire Canon. I also traveled to England and Scotland to learn about the plays, and even saw some of them live at The Globe.
Particle Don: Impressive. Which plays have you performed in?
Frankie Flynn: I've been in the Christmas Carol, Go Fish, Schoolhouse Rock Live!, Normandy's Rocking New Year's Eve, Hair, No Reservations, Curtain Up: A Musical Review, Ubu Rio, a bunch of ten minute plays, also I did scenes from Fool For Love, Finer Noble Gases, and Reasons to be Pretty.
pursuing Particle Don: Do you see yourself purusing theatre in the future? If so, how? What are your goals?
Frankie Flynn: I think that it's something that's always in the back of my mind. I could see myself doing it to an extent; whether it be through acting, playwriting, or some sort of backstage help. My theatre goal is to take my experiences in wrestling and bring aspects of it to the theatre, and vice versa.
Particle Don: What are a few of your favorite plays?
Frankie Flynn: As You Like It, Titus Andronicus, The Tempest, and Taming Of The Shrew are a few of my favorite William Shakespeare plays. I also enjoy The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov, Miss Julie by August Strindberg, Noises Off by Michael Frayn, and The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity by Kristoffer Diaz. As far as musicals, I like The Pirates Of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan, Something Rotten! by John O'Farrell and Karey Kirkpatrick, and Grease by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.
Particle Don: What's the last show you saw at the theatre? Where was it?
Frankie Flynn: The last show I saw was Godspell back in June at Cain Park. However, I am planning to see a matinee of You're A Good Man Charlie Brown in about a week!
Particle Don: I witnessed The Book of Mormon not too long ago. Have you seen that one?
Frankie Flynn: I have not seen The Book of Mormon yet. I actually almost auditioned for it when it came to The Cleveland Playhouse Square, but due to timing conflicts I could not. I definitely planning on seeing it soon, though.

Among the bands are Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, MGK, Falling in Reverse, The Beatles, Taylor Swift, Fozzy, Justin Timberlake, The Bee Gee's, Motley Crue, Aaron Carter and Paramore, as well as many Broadway and movie soundtracks. There's so much more, though.

Particle Don: Do you have a favorite video game system? If so, what memories do you associate with it?
Frankie Flynn: It's a tie between Super Nintendo and the PS3. The Super Nintendo I remember playing often as a kid, so I have a lot of nostalgia associated with it. The PS3, however, was the first thing I ever bought for myself with a paycheck.
Particle Don: Do you have a favorite Particle Don song?
Frankie Flynn: I would have to say Ethan Page's, because it was one of the first songs I heard by you, and I saw it performed live.

Frankie Flynn: In all honesty, I would really enjoy a song about the Weird World.

Frankie Flynn: One of my go-to comic books that I think is great is The Killing Joke. When it comes to plays to read or attempt to see, any of my favorites are good ones to read. If anyone is interested I wrote a play named None that isn't bad either. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to request a copy.
Particle Don: What are a few things you'd like to accomplish in the business going forward with your wrestling career?
Frankie Flynn: Some of my goals are to wrestle in Canada, Mexico, Ireland, The United Kingdom, and Japan. Like most people who are in this business, I hope to one day make it to the WWE, and become a champion.
Particle Don: Can fans buy your merch online? How can they contact you?
Frankie Flynn: I currently do not have merchandise online. However, I'm working on some ideas. Fans can contact me through Facebook, or on Twitter @FrankeFantastic.
Particle Don: Thanks for the interview, Mr. Flynn! It was great to learn a little more about you. I'll be using my new found knowledge to write the world's first-ever Frankie Flynn song. We're all looking forward to seeing how your wrestling career progresses.
